    Jennifer: 2:18

And I'm going to have it for you tonight.

    Carey: 2:20

Awesome. This week, guys, we're putting together. Everything for your ultimate nerdy Saturday.

    Jennifer: 2:30

    Yes.

    Carey: 2:31

You got Valentine's Day coming Friday, which I hope this is not your reminder. And Saturday, kicking off at 8. 30 Central Time, Coil Mania. So You know, we, this is huge because okay. If you look at some of our podcasts that we've done in the past, we've talked about what if I wanted to start to raise quail, I was like, what a year ago We've talked about feed quality, pecking order. We've talked about incubating hatching eggs, but these people that we have selected and worked with to do these specialized videos, they're, they, I would compare, but some of them. That may be a bit nerdy. You may bring up the screen.

    Jennifer: 3:32

You can, but I want to just tell everybody that this was David's brainchild. He has been after me for a couple of years to do something called Quail Mania, and it finally all came together. So I think it's still playing at the beginning of each podcast. The ooh, yeah, that's David's voice. That's his contribution to Quail Mania.

    Carey: 3:56

And actually. I've got it set up where at random points.

    Jennifer: 4:01

    I'm serious.

    Carey: 4:02

Yeah, like random points. It just does it. So you can be listening to us talk and then you hear that and then it picks right back up.

    Jennifer: 4:14

That's my David. He just. He just comes up with these kooky ideas that somehow I managed to make happen. I don't know why.

    Carey: 4:22

    So

    Jennifer: 4:23

I'm going to tell you right now,

    Carey: 4:24

I've have seen some of the stuff that he's done in his shop and he makes sure kooky ideas come up. He's built some pretty nice stuff.

    Jennifer: 4:35

It works. So he was the originator of the Quill Mania. And in order to get this thing off the ground, it needed a website. So I had to learn web design really quickly. So I think all the information you need is on poultry nerds podcast. com. I tried to get it all on there.

    Carey: 4:55

Yeah. You can go there and listen to episodes of podcasts. We've got a library that we put in some articles that we found about all kinds of stuff. Some of them are articles that have been written by Rip Stalvey, who being a lot of people's opinion is like a poultry royalty. He really hates that though. He is he is probably one of the most humble people. that I've met, even though he has forgotten more than most people know about poultry.

    Jennifer: 5:30

    Yeah.

    Carey: 5:31

And it ain't much because, even though he's not as young, he's not a spring chicken, he is still sharper than a tack. But if you go there, To poultrynerdspodcast. com, right at the top, you can click on Quail Mania 2025. If you're unlucky and you don't find this podcast until afterwards, we're going to leave this page up because we're going to tease you for 2026.

    Jennifer: 6:02

Yeah, we are. We're going to do it again.

    Carey: 6:04

But on here, this talks about all the stuff that you're going to get how to incubate eggs successfully. We have on their Terry from to turn its corner who, he goes through building an incubator,

    Jennifer: 6:22

What? We forgot to tell everybody. It's not just going to be us talking all day. We have 11 or 12 speakers pulled together from different areas.

    Carey: 6:31

I don't know. I'm from Alabama. My math's not that great, but it's a bunch of them. So we, but we have that. We have how to set up a brooder Craig beam from beam farm, LLC.

    Jennifer: 6:44

    He

    Carey: 6:44

broods a lot Christian from Undique, he's going to be on there talking about some of the most awkward ways. That you can be very profitable with quail.

    Jennifer: 6:57

He squeezes it out, every feather.

    Carey: 7:01

    Yeah. It's a thing.

    Jennifer: 7:03

    It's amazing.

    Carey: 7:04

Yes, it is. We also have somebody that is going to talk about Katie. She's going to be talking about the nutritional value of quail to a person. A lot of people, right now people are starting to think about eating clean food and being healthy and doing all this stuff. How can I get started homesteading and growing all my food? Co op cages are three feet wide and like me, me tall, six feet tall. And in there you can put 50. A hundred and fifty quail, give or take in those five racks. So with that, you can have quail at all stages of life, laying you eggs to eat. All that stuff. And she talks about the benefits of that. A lot of really good stuff. Let's see. We're going to talk about the G word. We're going to talk about genetics. We've got that in here. Um, just so you can see, we're going to scroll through this page. What's inside that that nobody cares about the host today. Here's the speakers. Let me see if I can get all of them on the screen. I don't care about the bottom left, but we've got Bree from Pips and Chicks, Alexandria Dawes from Stellar Gamebirds, Christian from Undique. Leah from Southern Biophiliac. I always feel like I'm going to mess that name up every time I say it. The legendary Terry from Coturnix Corner. Rebecca from Thieving Otter Farm is going to talk about colors and oddities in quail. Craig is right there from Beam Farm. Jennifer, she's going to tell you everything you need to know about starting a quail shipping business. If y'all don't know, she ships a couple eggs a year, a few. Katherine Hyde, she's the one that's going to talk to you about The, how the quail work for y'all and look, she is from the University of Tennessee nutrition department. So she really knows who else do we have? There's Mandy right there from the quail barn. And she's going to talk about one of my favorite things. I'm not going to try them, even though I will do stuff for science. That is not one of them. I love Asian food, but that's when I'm going to let them keep.

    Jennifer: 9:47

I think she and her husband tried them on her YouTube channel. We should check that out.

    Carey: 9:57

But I will say Balut is something that the Asian community loves. Yes. And they regard it very seriously and they look for it because stuff like that reminds them of home. And if you've ever been away from home for a long time, finding something that reminds you of home is a really cool thing.

    Jennifer: 10:23

And it's really cool that we can make a business out of it with our Quail.

    Carey: 10:27

    Yeah. And that's what she's

    Jennifer: 10:28

    going to tell us.

    Carey: 10:29

Yep, she's going to tell you how to do that. All of these people are going to tell you what about quail that you can do to be successful whether it's on the homestead, as a business, or if you just want to have a really good garden. We got ones, they're gonna tell you what to do with a poop. So it covers everything, and there's, like we said, there's a lot of people that want to get started in quail. They want to do something with quail. They want to do something on a homestead, because that's a thing, man. Good eggs that are like organic or, you, they're expensive.

    Jennifer: 11:11

And this year, eggs, there's an egg shortage. And I saw on the news this morning. That it could take a year to replace all those layers and get the eggs back to a regular supply on the shelves. So people need to remember that we can be self sufficient.

    Carey: 11:28

    You can do it.

    Jennifer: 11:30

Yeah. Quail do not take up a lot of space and they're a great alternative if you cannot have chickens.

    Carey: 11:35

So there's a lady that my wife works with that lives in an apartment style townhouse. In the Birmingham area and they have strict HOA and she wanted some quail because she liked quail eggs. So she set her up a cage on her back porch and I got her a bunch of hens and now she gets all the fresh quail eggs that she wants. And nobody knows. She lives in a townhouse apartment. So anybody can do it.

    Jennifer: 12:14

Yeah. Yeah. Anybody can have quail. You could just have the hens. The hens are the quieter ones. Sometimes you'll get a chatter. There's always a girl that wants to talk, right? But for the most part, your neighbors would never know that you have quail.

    Carey: 12:29

And we do have to say that We did not put this together by ourselves. We had some help from some sponsors. Kalmbach, EggFoam.com, Championsblend.com, BryantsRoost.com, DoubleRFarmAL.com all threw in. We also had a couple other people like Valley Hatchery. So if y'all see those names out there, be like, Hey, they helped put all this together. They help bring the information to y'all. So yeah, and we're going to offer the upgraded ticket. How long are we going to do that? What did we decide? I don't know. It happened another

    Jennifer: 13:13

    week, another week.

    Carey: 13:15

Yeah, we'll give y'all another week to get that. And like I said, the, these people that are offering these coupons. There's anything from a 10 percent to 100 percent coupon.

    Jennifer: 13:26

    Yes,

    Carey: 13:27

people have free ebooks or ebooks for the upgraded ticket holders that really deep dive into their presentation and some other things that they work on. If you want more information, you need to check that out.

    Jennifer: 13:43

Yes, we need to support the breeders, especially since they took their time out of their day. Going into this busy season to get these videos together for you guys. We appreciate your support in helping pull it all together too, and your interest, and we want it to grow every year, and become more useful for everybody wanting to get started in Quail, and bring some unity and community feeling to the Quail world. That's all we wanted to do.

    Carey: 14:18

And that sounds awesome, because, I took my wife to a poultry show type convention a few weeks ago, and she did not realize how tight knit. She said that was, it was like a family reunion where people actually got along, and that was a passion poultry, because that's one thing that I do. But we wanted to bring that to the quail world because at the end of the day, we're all here for the same reason, that little bird that makes that funny little noise that tastes so good.

    Jennifer: 14:58

    Yeah.

    Carey: 14:58

Y'all be sure to tune in Saturday morning kicks off at

    Jennifer: 15:03

    8

    Carey: 15:04

    30 central standard time.

    Jennifer: 15:06

Sign up. Oh, we forgot to tell him it's free.

    Carey: 15:09

Oh yeah. It's free. It's free. I get. All you got to do is go to PoultryNerdsPodcast. com, click on Quail Mania 2025, and register. You got to put your email address in there. If you don't put your email address in there, you're not going to get the links that we send out. That has. Everybody's video got to have that because we are talking about stuff that we can't do it on Facebook or YouTube because they like to censor stuff and we're talking about the whole part of the quail and how to utilize it on your homestead. So

    Jennifer: 15:51

we also have a Facebook group set up where you can be in there during this during the talks and ask the speakers more questions.

    Carey: 16:01

Yes, in the Facebook group, like once you sign up and we get you added to the Facebook group the presenters will be in there throughout the day. So you can ask questions, they'll give you answers and boom.

    Jennifer: 16:15

Yes, this is our 1st year doing it. So we're working out the kinks, but I think we've got a pretty good grasp on it and we can do better next year and get more information to you guys.

    Carey: 16:30

    See you all Saturday.

    Jennifer: 16:31

    Bye.

Thank you to our sponsor, Valley Hatchery.
